FRIDAY, MAY 16, 2008 SINGING FOR PEACE—STANDING FOR AN END TO WAR! Approximately 90 people gathered outside St. John's Episcopal Church at Woodward and 11 Mile in Royal Oak. Many gathered around Julie Beutel, a well-known activist folk singer, who led the group in singing for peace. Many others stood in vigil along Woodward, but still within range of the music, and greeted home-bound rush hour traffic with peace signs. The "Honk for Peace" signs were out, and the response from passing drivers was frequent and positive.
